GPSC અને CCE માં ન્યાય વાક્યમાં ઉમેદવારો સૌથી વધુ ભૂલ 'Either I or II follows' માં કરે છે:
• કેટલાક (Some) + કોઈ નહીં (No)
(Some Not)
- ટ્રેપ: "બધા A એ B છે" અને "કોઈ A એ B નથી" (All + No) ક્યારેય Either-Or જોડી બનાવતા નથી!
- "Only a few A are B" નો અર્થ: તેનો અર્થ એવો થાય કે "કેટલાક A એ B છે" અને સાથે સાથે "કેટલાક A એ B નથી" બંને બાબતો સાચી છે!

Use these standardized formulas to solve each question in under 45 seconds.
🕰️ Clocks: Angles, Coincidence, Perpendicularity & Faulty Clocks
- Speed of Clock Hands:
- Minute Hand: $360^circ div 60 = 6^circ ext{ per minute}$
- Hour Hand: $360^circ div 720 = 0.5^circ = rac{1}{2}^circ ext{ per minute}$
- Relative Speed between hands: $6^circ - 0.5^circ = 5.5^circ = rac{11}{2}^circ ext{ per minute}$
- Universal Angle Formula at $H$ hours and $M$ minutes: $$ heta = left|30H - rac{11}{2}M ight|$$ Note: If $ heta > 180^circ$, the reflex angle is $(360^circ - heta)$.
- Hand Alignment Frequencies:
Position Angle In 12 Hours In 24 Hours Special Exception / Gap Coincide (ઓવરલેપ) $0^circ$ 11 times 22 times Between 11:00 and 1:00, hands coincide only once (at exactly 12:00). Opposite (સીધી રેખા) $180^circ$ 11 times 22 times Between 5:00 and 7:00, hands are opposite only once (at exactly 6:00). Right Angle (કાટખૂણો) $90^circ$ 22 times 44 times Hands make $90^circ$ twice per hour, but only once during 2–3 and 8–9.
📅 Calendar: Odd Days, Leap Centuries & Repetition Rules
- Year Classification & Odd Days:
- Ordinary Year (365 days = 52 weeks + 1 day): 1 odd day. (Jan 1 and Dec 31 fall on the exact same day of the week).
- Leap Year (366 days = 52 weeks + 2 days): 2 odd days. (Year divisible by 4; century year must be divisible by 400).
- Century Odd Days Table:
- 100 Years ($76 ext{ ord} + 24 ext{ leap}$): $76(1) + 24(2) = 124 div 7$ → 5 odd days (Friday)
- 200 Years ($5 imes 2 = 10 div 7$): 3 odd days (Wednesday)
- 300 Years ($5 imes 3 = 15 div 7$): 1 odd day (Monday)
- 400 Years (Leap century $+ 1$): 0 odd days (Sunday)
- Day of Week Code: $0$ = Sunday, $1$ = Monday, $2$ = Tuesday, $3$ = Wednesday, $4$ = Thursday, $5$ = Friday, $6$ = Saturday.
- Calendar Repetition Trick:
- Leap Year repeats after 28 years (e.g., $2024 + 28 = 2052$).
- Leap Year $+ 1$ repeats after 6 years (e.g., $2025 + 6 = 2031$).
- Leap Year $+ 2$ or $+ 3$ repeats after 11 years (e.g., $2026 + 11 = 2037$).
🧭 Direction Sense & Morning/Evening Shadow Rules:
- Sunrise (Morning): Sun is in the EAST → All shadows fall to the WEST.
- If facing North, your shadow is to your Left.
- If facing South, your shadow is to your Right.
- Sunset (Evening): Sun is in the WEST → All shadows fall to the EAST.
- If facing North, your shadow is to your Right.
- If facing South, your shadow is to your Left.
- 12:00 Noon: Sun is directly overhead → NO shadow is cast!
- Sub-Directions in Gujarati & English: NE (ઈશાન - Ishan), SE (અગ્નિ - Agni), SW (નૈઋત્ય - Nairutya), NW (વાયવ્ય - Vayavya).
🎲 Dice & Painted Cube Formulas
| Dice / Cube Type | Rule / Formula | Exam Application |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Dice (માનક પાસો) | Sum of opposite faces is always 7 ($1 leftrightarrow 6, 2 leftrightarrow 5, 3 leftrightarrow 4$). | Adjacent faces can never add up to 7 in a standard dice. |
| General Dice: 1 Face Common Rule | Keep common face fixed and rotate clockwise to list opposite pairs. | If faces are $(3-1-2)$ and $(3-5-6)$, then $1 leftrightarrow 5$ and $2 leftrightarrow 6$. |
| General Dice: 2 Faces Common Rule | The remaining uncommon faces on both dice are strictly opposite each other. | If $(2, 3)$ are common on both dice showing 4 and 5, then $4 leftrightarrow 5$. |
| Painted Cube Cuts ($n = rac{ ext{Big side}}{ ext{Small side}}$) |
• 3 Faces Painted (Corners): Always 8 • 2 Faces Painted (Edges): $$12(n - 2)$$ • 1 Face Painted (Surfaces): $$6(n - 2)^2$$ • 0 Faces Painted (Colorless Core): $$(n - 2)^3$$ |
A 5 cm cube painted red is cut into 1 cm cubes ($n=5$): 1-face painted $= 6(5-2)^2 = 54$. |
📊 Ranking & Order Test Shortcuts
- Total Persons in a Row: $$ ext{Total} = ext{Rank from Left} + ext{Rank from Right} - 1$$
- Position of Person from Opposite End: $$ ext{Rank from Other End} = ( ext{Total} - ext{Given Rank}) + 1$$
- Position Interchange Method: $$ ext{Total} = ( ext{New position of 1st person}) + ( ext{Old position of 2nd person}) - 1$$

⚠️ Syllogism (ન્યાય વાક્ય) — The "Either-Or" Complementary Traps:
In GPSC and CCE, questions asking whether Conclusion I or II follows often feature trap options:
- Three Mandatory Conditions for "Either-Or":
- Both individual conclusions must be independently false / doubtful.
- Both conclusions must have the exact same Subject and Predicate.
- They must form one of the two valid complementary pairs:
• Some + No (e.g., Some A are B + No A is B)
• All + Some Not (e.g., All A are B + Some A are not B)
- Trap: "All A are B" and "No A is B" (All + No) is NOT an Either-Or pair! (Both can be false simultaneously when "Some A are B and Some A are not B").
- "Only a few A are B": Means BOTH "Some A are B" AND "Some A are NOT B"!
